Our
Building complete with front porch Beer Garden was built in 1893
and except for a few minor enhancements, remains the way it was
over 100 years ago.
The interior of the bar is virtually exactly
as it was at the turn of the century (and we don't mean the one
that just occurred). The 1912 Brunswick "back bar" with its 3
large mirrors and cherry finish could tell many a story if it
was able and the original Ice Box now electrified still cools
the beers from the New Glarus Brewing Co.
A bed and 3 meals was reportedly $0.60 per day and
the meals prepared by Mrs. Puempel were regarded as the best!
Four 8' x 10' murals adorn
the interior walls. They were painted in 1913 by Albert Struebin,
a "boarder" at the time. They took him 6 months to complete and
have been left untouched for over 85 years.
